TwoCollaborate assisted Fiji's efforts to address significant water challenges through stakeholder engagement, culminating in the development of the Water Sector 2050 Strategy, fostering collaboration and sustainable development for the nation's water future.
Water services in Fiji drive economic growth, food security, and public health. However, fragmentation and challenges such as population growth and climate change require a comprehensive strategy involving stakeholders for sustainable outcomes and water protection.
The program aimed to engage stakeholders and determine the challenges and opportunities in Fiji’s water sector. It would set the direction, priorities, and initiatives along the five pillars of the WSS2050. The output included documentation and various media as input to the National Economic Forum.
In response to the critical water challenges, a two-day forum was organised and managed by TwoCollaborate, bringing together 85 executives and academia from 50+ entities such as the World Bank, United Nations and Asia Development Bank. This forum facilitated in-depth discussions and ideation to develop the Water Sector 2050 Strategy.
The outcomes included a workshop report and a comprehensive discussion paper. The paper outlined key challenges, big ideas, and a road map for the water sector’s sustainable development goals. It served as input to the United Nations Water Summit in New York, and the National Economic Forum in Fiji.
The strategy aimed to improve water services through climate-resilient infrastructure and enhance customer service. The forum and resulting strategy provided a foundation for collaborative action and long-term planning to secure Fiji’s water future.
